Burglar Alarm Buying Advice
Whether you are living in a house, a condo or an apartment, a break-in can permanently shatter your feeling of security at home. Fortunately, burglary is probably the most preventable of all the criminal acts. By taking a few simple precautions, you can dramatically increase your home security degree. Burglar alarms are a useful deterrent for prospective criminals.
There are a few different types of burglar alarm system. The first, and the most common one, is the traditional "bells only" system. Although the DIY type may not be as reliable as a professional system, simply having an alarm can be a deterrent, as most burglars tend to choose the easy option. The more expensive option is a "monitored alarm", which may be worth thinking about if you have a lot of valuable property, or you live somewhere isolated from other residency. Monitored alarms
are connected to an "alarm receiving centre" where someone will alert the police if an intruder is detected.
The big difference between a bells-only and a monitored burglar alarm is how fast the police could response to the break in situation. Unmonitored systems typically have on-site alarms and/or flashing lights. It relies on neighbors to call police. Police will not respond to a bells only alarm unless they receive confirmation from you, your family, or someone else nearby, that there is a burglary in progress. With an unmonitored system, it is best to have a combination of strobe lights and alarms. They should
be installed on the street side of the house and in an inaccessible spot as possible. It is best to discuss the installation with your neighbors and to place the siren and flashing light on the house where it can be easily seen. On other hand, police will respond to a monitored alarm as soon as possible when an alarm-receiving centre notifies them. However, newly installed monitored alarms must also use "confirmation" technology to receive a police response. Here, people at the alarm-receiving centre
check using either monitor cameras (to see an intruder), an audio connection (to hear an intruder) or something called "sequential confirmation". Sequential confirmation basically means detecting an intruder using sensors in a number of different places in or around you home - to spot if someone is moving around.
With modern advanced technology, wireless home security is gaining popularity gradually, as people intended to do away with complicated and confusing wiring operations. Using existing radio wave frequencies, battery operated control panels allow for easier operation and maintenance of your burglar alarm system. Further, these burglar alarms are being adapted to accommodate apartments as well as private homes. Wireless systems are low maintenance that you can get them up and running simply by connecting them
to the phone line that already exists in your house.
Professional burglar alarm system installers have a wide assortment of alarm control panels, keypads, sensors, motion detectors and fire & smoke detectors to suit every need. In no time at all you're got a safe home and with it a newfound peace of mind.
